10 tips on what to wear to your photo shoot.

With more than 20 years in the industry, our unique blend of personal styling, contemporary makeup, and hair styling, combined with professional photography, we are confident in creating fresh and beautiful portraits.

Preparing for a photo shoot can be exciting, but also overwhelming. To help you get ready for a unique photo shoot experience, here are 10 tips on what to wear and how to prepare.

1. Consider the look you want to achieve.

During your design and styling consultation, we will work with you to explore various style ideas, from clothing to backgrounds, interests, hair, and makeup. It's all about getting to know you on a personal level so that we can achieve a style and look that's tailored to you.

2. Opt for comfortable clothing.

Your photo shoot experience should be relaxed and enjoyable, so make sure to wear clothes that fit well and make you feel fantastic.

3. Avoid logos.

Logos can detract from the main focal point, which is you. Unless you're going for a specific themed look, we recommend avoiding logos and instead opting for classic and timeless clothing.

4. Choose colors and styles that work best.

Using color can accentuate your features such as eyes, hair, and skin tone. As part of your experience, you can do up to three different looks in our studio, so don't be afraid to experiment. We suggest picking a color palette and keeping your colors complementary for a cohesive look.

5. Coordinate your wardrobe.

It's helpful to plan outfits in advance and coordinate them with your chosen color palette. Avoid extreme differences in outfits, as this can look off-balance in group photos.

6. Be mindful of patterns.

While patterns can add interest to an outfit, it's best to match them with your color palette. Avoid having too many people wearing different patterns, as this can be distracting.

7. Add accessories and props.

Personalizing your photo shoot with sentimental items or accessories can make your portraits unique and special. This could be a unique piece of jewelry gifted to you from a loved one, your favorite hat, or even a tattoo or body part you would like to feature.

8. Think about your hair and makeup.

Consider the look you want to achieve, and bring inspiration images to your design and styling consultation. We recommend arriving with clean, dry hair and no makeup, as our makeup artists are highly trained and experienced and will make you feel incredible.

9. Be yourself.

Relax and be comfortable in your clothes, happy with your hair and makeup, and comfortable with your photographer. This will ensure that your portraits are a true representation of you, your personality, and your style.

10. Have fun!

A unique photo shoot experience should be enjoyable and fun. We want you to feel comfortable during the shoot, so you can be wowed with the end result of how your portraits turn out. So relax, be present in the moment, and enjoy the experience!
